Maha govt proposes Rs 400 cr for urban infrastructure

Taking into consideration rapid urbanisation in Maharashtra, the state government has made a provision of Rs 400 crore for various infrastructure projects in the interim Budget for 2009-10.

Taking into consideration rapid urbanisation in Maharashtra, the state government has made a provision of Rs 400 crore for various infrastructure projects in the interim Budget for 2009-10.


"The government has proposed Rs 400 crore for the completion of 77 ongoing projects in urban areas of the state," Finance Minister Dilip Walse Patil said on Tuesday, presenting the interim Budget.


Elaborating on the projects in the financial capital, Mumbai, Walse Patil said Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has prepared Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project having an estimated cost of Rs 2,647 crore.


"The plan includes, road works of 18 corridors for improving north-south and east-west connectivity. Flyovers were undertaken costing about Rs 1,325 crore," he said.

Work on Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor of Mumbai Metro rail has started and the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 1,532 core as viability gap funding, he said.
