A major fire broke out at Shree Gaurishankar Kedia English School in JB Nagar area of Mumbai's Andheri west suburb.

While the fire started on the school terrace at around 10.45pm, the fire officials confirmed that the call was grade-1 priority and all the nearby fire engines had been pushed into service. Officials said that the fire has broken out on the terrace of the four-storied school near Chakala metro station.
Andheri fire department officials who were trying to bring the blaze under control confirmed that the fire had broken out on the terrace where a tent was also being set up.
“Initial reports are pointing out that there is a lot of illegal construction in the school. There was also a tent on the terrace for unknown reasons, which caught fire. Our officers are attending to the situation as of now,” said the control room officer from Mumbai Fire Brigade.
Around seven to eight fire engines and as many tankers have been pushed into fire fighting service and many more are slated to join shortly. While the initial reports are still coming in, there are no casualties or injuries in the breakout as of now.
The nearest major medical facility, Cooper Hospital hasn't yet been intimated about the matter according to the resident medical officer.
