A part of 36-year-old Kailash Heware's ring finger with a silver ring was lodged between the door and the walls of the compartment, when he was pushed out of the compartment of a Churchgate bound local at Marine Lines station on Friday at around 8.30 pm.
At Churchgate, co-passengers informed railway policemen about the finger. The police then called various hospitals to find out if a man with a broken finger had been admitted. The policemen was informed about Heware at JJ Hospital and rushed there. But the doctors told Heware that the finger part could not be reattached as it was too late.
