Marketing professional Raghav Soni has claimed he was assaulted by staffers from an outlet of the Beer Cafe, located in Terminal 2 of the Mumbai International Airport. The incident occurred on July 23. According to Raghav, "Around 5 am, four of my friends decided to visit Beer Cafe. Three of us were slightly drunk and thought we could order some more food and drinks before we called it a night." They paid Rs 300 in parking charges. When they reached the joint, they were told that economical beer brands were not available.
Soni then asked the manager why the beers weren't available, and said they'd paid parking charges to get there. The manager said the beer is unavailable and in case they didn't want to pay the charges, they should have called before they left for the place.
"Then, I started recording a video of the manager and told him he was rude. He shouted, 'remove them from the outlet and call housekeeping to beat them' In no time, five to ten employees started to push us out. They called housekeeping. Ten to 12 employees came to hit us. They invited the maintenance guys also. When I told them I needed to record a video, the manager hit me on my groin and asked employees to take my phone and break it." Non-cognizable complaints from both sides have been registered. An officer from Sahar police station said, "The complaint is being studied."
