The state minority commission has protested against the entry of Pramod Muthalik, leader of Sri Ram Sene, into Maharashtra at a time when he is banned from Mangalore in Karnataka, reports the Times of India.

The Hindutva leader, at whose behest a pub in Mangalore was attacked in January after which his entry to the town was banned, conducted a meeting at Vengurla in Sindhudurg earlier this month. The minority commission has taken strong objections to it.

"Muthalik is banned from visiting Mangalore. He has been denied entry into Goa, too. How did he get entry into Maharashtra?" asked minority commission's vice-chairman Abraham Mathai who has written to additional DIG (law and order).

"The Lok Sabha elections are round the corner. Maintaining communal harmony should be the utmost priority of the administration."

However, S S Virk, DIG, said: "I am not aware of it. But we will have to check if his entry is banned in Maharashtra, too."
