The girl from Mithibai college who was allegedly gangraped by four boys in January had regularly paid one of them money to keep mum about the incident, investigations have revealed. Only when the boys demanded Rs 2 lakh did the girl get frustrated and attempt suicide, reported the Mumbai Mirror.

According to the girl, the boys claimed they had her nude video clips, which they threatened to circulate. "We found out that one of the accused used to regularly take money from her. He also threatened to rape her elder sister, which is why she kept mum," said a relative of the victim.
The police have arrested Sujit Mohite, Deepak Pandey, Abhijeet Gaikwad and Mahesh Patil and charged them with rape. They have been remanded to five-day police custody.
