On Tuesday, after mid-day published the report, "Woman traffic cop gets no help from cyber police to catch man harassing her," Police Commissioner Datta Padsalgikar took cognisance of the matter and asked cops to take proper action in the case. However, no inquiry has been initiated against the cops who did not register an FIR or investigate the matter.

The woman said, "The complaint was not taken from December and I did several rounds of the police station. I waited for several hours. After the report was published, I was called to the police station on Tuesday evening to register the FIR. It has been filed under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code."

She added, "I am hopeful that the accused will be behind bars soon. However I don’t understand why cops don’t register FIRs and investigate the cases. This happened to me, and I belong to the police force, but what about common people?"

A police officer from the department said, "The cyber cops investigating the case of a Bollywood actor’s impostor even went to an actress’ home to take her statement. But, they don’t have time and staff to investigate cases involving common people. Hundreds of applications are pending in the cyber police station BKC."
