Enraged at being asked for papers of two-wheeler he was riding, accused went home and returned in his father-in-law’s car with a red beacon, and abused cops; he was arrested and remanded in police custody
Bragging of friends in high places to get away from wrongdoing may not always work. The son-in-law of Congress leader and former MHADA chairman Yusuf Abrahani found this the hard way, when he was arrested by Nagpada police for allegedly manhandling them. He allegedly broke traffic rules and also abused the police.

He later approached them in Abrahani’s Skoda with a red beacon, and abused and pushed the police in Nagpada police station, while threatening them with his ‘high-level’ contacts in the government, on Monday. Police arrested him after the incident. He has been remanded in police custody till April 17.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when Nagpada police were on routine nakabandi at the Mumbai Central signal junction. Abrahani’s son-in-law, Salman Abdul Sattar Supariwala, a resident of Agripada, was riding his two-wheeler there. Police said an inspector of the Nagpada police station stopped him and asked him for papers of the scooter.
Stopping a little ahead, Supariwala abused the inspector and sped away. The inspector informed Traffic cops ahead to stop the scooter. Supariwala was then stopped by Traffic officials, who asked for his driving licence and the vehicle papers. Supariwala allegedly yelled at them, left his bike at the spot and went home. He then arrived in his father-in-law’s Skoda that has a red beacon, which is illegal, on the top.
Police said Supariwala again abused the inspector and his staff. He threatened the cops saying that he has ‘high- level contacts’ in the government and he would strip them of their officers’ uniforms in public. He allegedly even held the inspector by his collar and threatened him. He continuously abused the cops.
Supariwala was taken to Nagpada police station where he allegedly repeated the drama, threatening the police with his high level ministry contacts. After sometime cops arrested him.
