One person was killed and another severely injured when the driver of a BMW car lost control of his vehicle on the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) on Saturday and rammed into a biker. The Parksite police arrested the 38-year-old driver for rash driving and killing a person.

The accused was identified as Chandrashekhar Prasad, a resident of IIT market, Powai. According to the police, on Saturday, at around 7.30 pm, Prasad was driving his employer to Vikhroli via JVLR. He was allegedly speeding in his employer’s car and suddenly lost control and rammed into a Pulsar, which dashed against the divider.
The incident occurred near Kailash Industrial Complex. One of the bike riders, Rujan Kapri (19), a college student and a Parksite resident, died on the spot because of serious injuries to his head. The other rider, Hasin Khan (17), also a collegian, is in a critical condition at Hiranandani Hospital. Khan is also from Parksite.

PSI Anil Kekan said, “The witnesses in the case and Prasad took the injured to the hospital. Prasad and the car’s owner, Deepak Gabir, were headed towards Vikhroli when the incident happened. Prasad was arrested at the hospital after the statements of the witnesses were recorded.”
Prasad was booked under Sections 304A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal code.
