On pretext of helping him get a home loan, a finance company employee took the police constable’s documents a year ago and copied them for misuse
For the past one year, an employee of a finance company had been using a forged identity card of a police constable to use the benefits cops get. Sudarshan Kedshikar (35) was arrested yesterday while trying to avoid paying toll by showing the fake ID proof at Thane toll booth.

Senior police inspector Shriram Motepatil, from Navghar police station, said, “The accused has been using the fake identity card of police constable Bharat Ganpat Bodake, who works with the motor vehicle department of Mumbai police. We contacted the constable and he claimed that a year ago a Kalyan-based builder introduced him to the accused, as he wasn’t getting a loan to buy a house.”

Kedshikar, an employee of a finance company and a resident of Kalwa, promised Bodake to help him get a loan from some bank. “For this purpose, the accused took the constable’s documents that he had handed over to the builder and then photo copied his identity card, laminated it and started misusing it. He used it whenever he was caught by traffic cops or at toll booths,” added Motepatil.
The accused always showed the ID card in a hurry so that nobody notices that it’s not his. But when at Thane toll booth he tried to get away without paying toll on the pretext of being a police constable, the workers there noticed that something was amiss with the ID card as it didn’t have Kedshikar’s picture on it.
“The officials in the patrolling van saw the accused getting violent with the toll booth employees and took both the parties to the police station, where the forger’s story was revealed and he was arrested,” said the senior police inspector.
The accused has been booked under sections 419 (cheating by impersonation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 170 (impersonating a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced in Mulund court on Monday and was bailed out.
