Opposing the open-air gym inaugurated by Shiv Sena’s Aaditya Thackeray, Swabhiman Sanghatana, an NGO led by Congress MLA Nitesh Rane, put up a vada pav and kombdi (chicken) vade stall near the gym. Rane had alleged that the gym is illegal and this stall also illegal was a form of protest

The BMC soon got word of it and arrived on the scene to shut down the stall. Police had to be called in to control the supporters of the Sanghatana, who were resisting the BMC’s attempts to get the stall removed
