Two months after 40kgs of gold were sized after they were found to be hidden in women’s slippers, the police have zeroed in on a bullion trader for his involvement in the smuggling racket. As per reports by the Times of India, this is the ninth case since the gold was seized.

As per reports the accused and his associates have possibly summgled nearly 150kg of gold over the past 18 months. An importer from Dongri, the accused declared the goods he received as women’s bathroom slippers that he had bought from Thiland. Once caught, officials say that it is probably one of the biggest hauls over the last 20 years in Mumbai.
The DRI officials also said the accused had been helped by two of his nephews. During the entire operation, the cops have caught eight people out of whom three helped with the export and import part of the business.
