Meet the wine master of India
Did you know there’s a title known as Master of Wine, which one can attain through a rigorous theory, practical and research paper-based exam that would put engineering tests to shame? Mumbai-based Sonal Holland has cracked it.

The wine professional, who has a wine club and a digital wine channel to her credit, has been announced as the world’s first Master of Wine from India by the reputed London-based The Institute of Masters of Wine. She is among a handful of 341 masters present across 25 countries in the world.

With the prestigious title, Holland will be able to make an entry into the world’s best wine community, judging global wine competitions and leading tastings. She aims to put Indian wines on the global map.

SoBo’s got Poker faced or defaced?
Mumbai is under aerosol attack. Graffiti is the new street gab, especially in SoBo that seems to have come under the ‘Poker’ spell. The word (Poker) has been spray-painted across walls in Worli, opposite the old Century Bazaar that now houses upscale establishments. The sign was also spotted near Haji Ali on a parapet by the sea.

The stretch near Villa Theresa School at Peddar Road, just before the Vama showroom, was also replete with ‘Poker’ signs. Even Marine Drive’s iconic parapet wasn’t spared. In Colaba, this diarist spotted the graffiti overkill outside the Ravissant showroom, and a little ahead towards the Philips Antiques showroom. We wonder who’s the Poker-Man (or woman) on the graffiti prowl.
