So it has come to be. The deadline set by the Governor for the Mumbai University to declare results has come and gone, but the varsity is still chasing its own tail. With around 3 lakh answersheets yet to be corrected, the only big thing to come out on Monday was the results for BSc. The remaining are now expected to be released by Monday, though those in the know say it might take another 10-12 days.
Interestingly, despite yet another missed deadline, neither the Governor, the Vice-Chancellor, or the state education minister have communicated the next step they will take to push the university to act in the students' interests.
More days needed
As the excruciating delay has already resulted in the loss of a year for several students, around 10,000 professors are working as evaluators, and have been given seven days of non-instructional days to focus only on assessments. The varsity is also outsourcing help from three other universities.

According to the varsity, on Monday evening, a total of 2,94,885 answersheets remained to be corrected. "Until now, 171 results have been declared and around more 55 results are slated to be declared by midnight on Monday," said Leeladhar Bansod, Deputy Registrar and PRO of Mumbai University. While it has not revealed anything about the remaining results, according to sources, Arts, Commerce and Law results will still take 10-12 more days to be ready.

On Monday, different students organisations from the city protested, and more will follow on Tuesday. Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray tweeted, "This is absolute failure by Mumbai University. it is not only an insult to of orders of Governor of Maharashtra but also plays with future if students as all those seeking admission abroad and for Post graduation courses are stranded.
