According to the police, Ranjita, 35 looted gold worth Rs 18 lakhand escaped to West Bengal. However a team consisting of police sub-inspector Vijay Mane and constables Anant Dalvi and woman constable Meenakshi Kokane went to Bengal and nabbed her on Wednesday. She was brought back to Mumbai on Friday and a case of house-breaking was registered against her.

An officer from Powai police station said, “Ranjita had arrived at the house of Sudip and Archana Kashyap four days before she escaped with the jewellery on November 11.”

The crime came to light when they returned home from work, rang the doorbell several times and finally opened the door with spare keys to find the cupboards broken into,” added the officer.
