The passenger, Nagendra Tiwari (44) had boarded the train from Jabalpur on Wednesday at 9 pm. Tiwari, who didn’t have a reservation slept on the floor in the attendant’s cabin, where the accused, Sunil Pandey (22) was also sleeping.
Tiwari’s bag, which contained the cash, he says, was left on the berth. The next morning, Tiwari says in his complaint, he got off at Dadar and took a train to Masjid Bunder, where he noticed that his bag was open and the cash missing.
Tiwari lodged his complaint with the railway police on Friday, after consulting a few people, mentioning that he suspected Pandey of the theft. Police Inspector Manik Sathe said, “The train’s head attendant told us that Pandey would be taking the return from platform number 15 on Friday evening, which is when we arrested him.
