According to the victims, the incident took in the school’s toilet. Identified as Rajesh Dattatrey Tare, 38, the accused had accompanied them to the toilet after which he forced himself and raped them. The first incident took place with the younger girl, and three days later, the second girl was abused.
The school superintendent was informed about the revelation and the case was registered with the Trombay police station yesterday. Senior police inspector Vijay Kadam said, “The two girls are around 16 and 17 years old. A medical examination will be conducted to determine their ages. The NGO officials initially couldn’t understand them. They took help of the teacher to decipher what they wanted to confess.”
Kadam added, “Interrogations are on. We are yet to ascertain whether he has abused any more victims. He has been working here for 18 years.”
The police officials have also detained the second watchman of the building. “We are interrogating the other watchman for his involvement, too. Tare has been booked under the IPC Section 376 (punishment for rape),” said Kadam.
