P Gupta won’t allow any catastrophe on his watch. Timely action by the motorman stalled a woman’s alleged attempt to kill herself by coming under the wheels of a local train yesterday.
The Dahanu-Churchgate train was running at over 100 kmph between Kelve Road and Saphale stations around 12.10 pm when Gupta spotted a person standing on the tracks. He blew the horn, hoping that the person would get off the tracks immediately. But when that didn’t happen, a quick-thinking Gupta slowed the train down within a matter of minutes, stopping barely 20-30 m from the person. Only after getting off the cabin in a huff to give the person a piece of his mind did Gupta realise that it was a woman who allegedly wanted to commit suicide.
The motorman forced the woman off the tracks and made her board the general compartment of the train.
