The Mumbai Crime Branch have arrested a hoax caller who repeatedly sent messages on the Mumbai Police SMS service number threatening to kill the Prime Minister and blow up Mumbai.


The accused Satyaprakash Khelwani (25) was arrested from Bhayendra area.

A Crime Branch official said, “The accused repeatedly sent messages stating, "Main Mumbai ko Uda Dunga (I will blowup Mumbai) and Main Pradhanmantri Narendra Modi ko maar dunga (I will kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi)". The cops had formed two teams to locate the accused and were successful in nabbing him within 24 hours.”

The Mumbai Crime Branch had received a complaint on Sunday afternoon that the Mumbai Police central SMS service number had received three consecutive messages from an unknown number after which the Crime Branch had put the number on surveillance and started tracing the number. The Crime Branch zeroed in on a flat at Sai Shakti co-operative housing society in Bhayendra (east) area.

The accused was arrested and booked under section 505 (2) and 507, further investigation is going on, police added.
