On Saturday, it was expected that vehicles coming from the western suburbs would use the BWSL to reach Wankhede Stadium. However till 5 pm, only 5,500 vehicles had done so. Officials were also expecting the same number of vehicles to use the BWSL after the match. Which means that the toll collection on Saturday would be approximately Rs 8 to 9 lakh.
According to a MSRDC official, "Because the state government declared Saturday a holiday, the number of vehicles using the Sea Link dipped." MiD DAY had reported last year about how the MEPL was making losses due to the number of vehicles using the Sea Link not meeting the projected figure of 80,000 vehicles.

However, after it was inaugurated, the figure dipped to 36,000 to 39,000 vehicles daily. That is, an average collection of Rs 15 to Rs 16 lakh per day.
When MiD DAY spoke with the Managing Director of MSRDC, Bipin Shrimali he said, "At present it is difficult to get the figures of the exact number of vehicles that used the Sea Link on Saturday."
