At about 1830 hrs on 26 Dec 11, the MOC of Navy at Mumbai received a FAX regarding a causality onboard MT Seeb, an Iranian oil tanker, VLCC, which was enroute to China.
At about 1830 hrs on 26 Dec 11, the MOC of Navy at Mumbai received a FAX regarding a causality onboard MT Seeb, an Iranian oil tanker, VLCC, which was enroute to China. One of the crew members (Mr Armmaad Malik, age 30 years) was suffering from acute abdominal pain with traces of blood in urine.

On receipt of the FAX, the vessel was contacted, the status of the patient was telephonically checked by a doctor on duty and the condition was diagnosed as Haemuteria and the status of the patient was found to be stable. The ship was about 210 nautical miles from Mumbai and was directed to alter course and head towards Mumbai.
A Sea King helicopter from INS Shikra was launched for causality evacuation with first light on 27 Dec. The patient along with an escort from the ship was air lifted to Shikra and thereafter transferred to the Naval Hospital Asvini for urgent medical attention.
