Landline, mobile and Internet services in area will be down till this evening due to fire in local MTNL office
Goregaon residents will have to wait till today evening to hear their phones ring once again.
Majority of the phones in the area fell silent yesterday afternoon after the MTNL office, which services this western suburb, caught fire.
The fire, which started at around 3.30 pm with a short circuit in the AC plant, affected majority of the landlines in the area and Trump, Dolphin and MTNL broadband users.

J Gopal, executive director of MTNL, Mumbai, however, assured, "All the lines of the telephone exchange are supposed to open by this evening. This includes the Trump and Dolphin network of the locality."
The fire resulted in a complete shut down of power supply to the building. "Thankfully, the exchange is near the fire department.
The fire brigade was able to act on it immediately.
No injury was reported, but services are going to be disrupted till fire officials don't give a green signal for opening the building," said Inspector Jondhale, the inspecting officer on the case from Goregaon (E) police station.
Meanwhile, the disrupted telephone lines have made life difficult for residents of the area.
Said Mrunal Kulkarni (34), "I work from home on the MTNL broadband Internet service, but because of the fire, the service has been down for hours.
Apart from our landline, the Trump and Dolphin services in our area are also not working."
