The BMC forced closure on clubs and pubs in Bandra last year following complaints from residents. Undeterred, they restarted business two months ago.
Now, it's the residents' move again. After they flooded civic authorities with complaints against norm-flouting pubs, residents have now been asked to submit a report on the problems they face and the pubs they hold responsible.

As reported by MiD DAY ('Bandra pubs are back', November 20), pubs gradually reopened for business (see box) after they were forced to shut shop following complaints by locals.
In a meeting called yesterday by Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sudhir Naik, BMC, traffic police and Mumbai police came together and sought a detailed report from residents on pubs creating nuisance in the area.
The step was taken as Advance Locality Management (ALM) members of H-West ward and Union Park Association (UPA) have been opposing a few pubs and restaurants in the area, alleging they cause traffic snarls and inconvenience the residents.
"We have asked the respective ALMs to give us a detailed report on the problems they are facing, which pubs in the area according to them are violating norms, running without requisite permits, food licences and so on. If found guilty, we will take stern action against them," Naik said.
Anandini Thakoor, a member of ALM (H-West ward), said, "We have been asked to give a survey on night clubs, pubs, and discos, to be carried out with the help of police and the BMC.

We have also asked for a proper definition of pub, restaurant and disco, and urged the BMC not to renew licenses of the eateries before the survey is done," she said.
Bharati Kakkad, ALM from Union Park Association concurred with Thakoor.
An RTI reply to the association revealed that of the 25 eateries operating on Govind Ghag Marg off Carter Road, more than 20 were functioning illegally.
"Even after these joints were asked to close, they reopened within a few days. We will submit our report by Monday to the departments," said Kakkad.
However, pub owners feel shortchanged. They say they should also have been made part of the meeting and given a chance to voice their concerns.
"We were not aware of any meeting. Our establishment is 30 years old and is the bread and butter for so many people who will lose their jobs.
If there is any problem, why weren't owners called for the meeting? That would have brought more transparency," said the proprietor of a famous club.
