Nearly three weeks after the body of 32 year-old Sarfaraz Khan, a small-time developer, was found in a Honda Civic car parked in Santacruz, police arrested his childhood friend Sudhir alias bablu alias Karan alias Surendra Singh Panesar (35) from his Goregaon residence on Saturday.
On the basis of Khan's call records and questioning of his friends, police discovered that Khan and Panesar had hired two prostitutes in an apartment in Bandra, where they also consumed drugs, on January 21.
Khan consumed Viagra, which left him breathless. Panesar began to drive Khan to a hospital, but he died on the way. That is when Panesar panicked and fled after parking the car in Santacruz with a dead Khan inside.
Panesar was arrested from his shop in Lokhandwala when he returned from Goa, where he had fled in fear of being arrested.
Senior Police Inspector Madhukar Chaudhari from Santacruz police station said, "We arrested Panesar at 5.40 pm, and he confessed to his crime.
Further investigations are on." Cops had earlier detained Mannat alias Shilpi, a bar worker who Khan was allegedly involved with.
