This is for the first time since his arrest that Kasab had a shave as in all earlier hearings he had either a stubble or a beard and long hair. However, fellow accused Sabauddin continued to maintain his long beard.
Undertrials are usually not given razors in prison but if they want a shave, a barber is called in the jail. Kasab, a resident of Faridkot in Pakistan, has been kept under constant surveillance in a high security cell in Arthur Road jail in central Mumbai.
Dressed in a green t-shirt, he watched the court proceedings silently with folded arms. The court also permitted Kasab a brief interaction with his lawyer Abbas Kazmi prior to the commencement of the day's proceedings.
