Investigations into Khalapur rave party bust reveal most partygoers had provided fake contact details fearing police raids

The Khalapur drug bust has provided the police with some food for thought. After police detained 290 people in the bust, cops reveal that privacy was of utmost importance, as most present at the rave had provided fake details of themselves.

Police officials revealed that most of the revellers caught were professionals from the IT industry and the fashion and graphic designing industry.
The police told MiD DAY that the partygoers were savvy enough to provide fake details fearing police landing up at their residences.
Deputy Superintendent (Khalapur) Namrata Patil said, "We have come across instances wherein the revellers have furnished false information about their whereabouts.

However, we have other details about them, which will be used to trace their locations. Right now, we are awaiting the drug test results."
Authorities are also crosschecking if the partygoers have any previous history of drugs or if their names had featured in previous instances of busts.
Meanwhile, police are awaiting the results of the drug tests of the 290 people that were detained during the bust.
Patil added that following procedure they had collected urine samples from the detainees within 12 hours and had sent the samples for testing to Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory.
Confirming this, a forensic scientist said, "We are testing the urine samples and the results will be submitted to the Khalapur police within a week's time."
Patil further added, "On receipt of the test reports, those tested positive will be booked under Section 27 of the NDPS Act."
Startling facts
Investigations into the bust have also provided authorities with some interesting clues. Cops revealed that a Bandra-based music company had booked 25 rooms in Mount View Resort for the rave party and paid Rs 60,000 towards the booking of the rooms.u00a0
Another startling fact that the police stumbled upon was that the organisers of the party had obtained permission from the local police to use a loudspeaker till 10 pm.
Additionally, phone records also revealed that Inspector Jadhav, who was caught in the raid, was aware of the party three days before the event.
