Ahead of Eid, IB warns GRP, ATS that terrorists may try to bomb the station, especially outbound trains; cops intensify checks of luggage, passengers

After the Delhi police was cautioned of an impending terror strike, their counterparts in Mumbai have also received an alert from the Intelligence Bureau, warning them of a possible attack at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Kurla. The IB letter has been circulated to LTT, the ATS and other vulnerable locations in the city.u00a0

u00a0According to sources, the letter specifically mentions the threat to the terminus during Eid from people trying to carry explosives inside for a blast, especially in outbound trains. Hence they need to be on a high alert, according to the letter.

Soon after receiving the letter, the Kurla Government Railway Police (GRP) has beefed up security at the station. It is closely watching out for any suspicious movement, and is carrying out regular checks of passengers and luggage.u00a0 Senior Inspector Shivaji Dhumal, GRP, Kurla said, "We have been alerted of a possible attack during the festive season. We have increased the security arrangements thoroughly and are keeping an eye on the CCTV cameras round the clock. There are regular checks of luggage at the station, as well as inside the trains. There is no specific input about the assailants, but we have been warned that they may come with explosives."
