The protesters also demanded an unconditional apology from the magazine's editor.

Meanwhile, a case was tonight registered in a Thane Police station over publication of the article on Thackeray.

"A case has been registered at Rabodi Police Station under Section 153 (a)(b) of IPC against the editor of the magazine," an official spokesman of the police said.

Section 153 deals with promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony and national integration.

He said,"In the morning some people gathered near Rabodi police station and sought action against the magazine. So a case has been registered."
