An editorial in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece, Saamna, pointed to the fact that the BJP was in power both at the Centre and in Maharashtra, recalling that the late Gopinath Munde had vowed to put Dawood behind bars.
The Shiv Sena also dismissed the recent controversy raked up by senior advocate Ram Jethmalani with respect to the underworld don, siding with the then-chief minister Sharad Pawar when the latter said that the senior lawyer's proposition regarding the surrender of Dawood was not viable as a criminal like him could not be left without being arrested.
