The Taj Mahal Hotel, which was under siege on 26/11 is yet to separate its sprinkler system and main water supply to enable efficient fire-fighting.
According to another senior fire officer, the basement of the Taj Mahal Hotel doesn't have sprinklers and the ventilation is inadequate both concerns came to fore when a fire broke out at the Taj Mahal basement in June 2009. "Taj is paying more attention towards the renovation work and hardly paying attention to its fire fighting system," said a senior fire official.
Uday Tatkare, chief fire officer, said, "Our fire officers have inspected the building and a detailed report has been sent to concerned officials. Earlier too, a few recommendations were given to the Taj officials. They didn't follow them."
