The striking cabbies are protesting against the implementation of a pre-paid cab system at the domestic airport. Two union groups are learnt to be opposing the implementation of prepaid system at the domestic airport carried out the strike.
According to Guddu Singh, who is spearheading the strike, "Our demand was to implement the same pre-paid rate and system applicable at the international airport. We are still on strike as the concerned authorities have not considered our demands."
However, AL Quadros, general secretary, Mumbai Taximen's Union said, "We have implemented the pre-paid system as per our understanding with Mumbai International Airport Ltd and have got support from almost all union members, except those who have gone on strike."
