Bal Thackeray was proud to see son Uddhav, who turned 50 yesterday, receive the same love and affection as he did in his political career

Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, who turned 50 yesterday, reminded Bal Thackeray of his own political career, as he told his well wishers that he was proud that his son experienced the same love and affection from supporters.

He recalled the days when his wife Meena was alive and party activists thronged Matoshri, their Kalanagar residence, to wish him on his birthday.

Throughout the day, Uddhav met hundreds of party activists and the scene outside Matoshri included orchestra bands, lezim troupes street plays and dance programmes.

A pandal was put up outside the house to shelter visitors from the rain and barricades were placed in the lane for smooth flow of people. "All well wishers were served meals," said a party activist.
