After being treated in a local hospital, Gupta was rushed to KEM hospital, Parel, on the afternoon of Friday for further treatment.
The incident took place on June 21, while Gupta, along with his colleagues, was working on the monsoon maintenance work of Aaryan Building, in Kongaon in Bhiwandi. Gupta was working outside the fifth floor, standing on the bamboo scaffolding, allegedly without safety gear.

At around 4 pm in the afternoon, Gupta slipped from the bamboo base that he was standing on and fell to the ground. The workers present at the site immediately rushed him to the local, private Ved Hospital for treatment, and informed his brother. Doctors at the hospital were surprised to see that though Gupta had fractured his right leg, a hand and four ribs, there were no life threatening injuries.
While the hospital treated Gupta for over five days, he was moved to KEM Hospital, Parel for further treatment. Doctors said that the patient was rushed to the emergency ward of the hospital for treatment and after X-Ray and MRI scan reports, they will decide on the plan of action.
“The patient is as of now in the Intensive Care Unit. He has suffered multiple fractures but the patient is stable and seems to be responding to the treatment,” said a doctor.
When asked if the contractor of the building was booked for negligence regarding the matter, Bhiwandi police officials said that they were yet to register a complaint.
