The 20-year-old man, who convinced his friend's sister to accompany him to Shirdi for three days, has been arrested based on the missing report filed by the victim's parents
A 20-year-old boy was arrested by the police for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl in Bandra on Friday. When the minor girl went missing for three days, her parents lodged a missing complaint and on her return, they alerted the police. A medical report confirmed that she was sexually assaulted.

According to the police, the victim is a Class eight student and lives with her parents in Bandra. The girl, along with her parents and brother, went to a resort in Virar on November 28. The accused, Brijesh Divakar alias Prince, was a friend of the girl’s brother and met them there. The girl and the accused exchanged mobile numbers and on returning to Bandra, they spoke to each other and met twice.
“On December 1, the two met again in Bandra and from there, they went to a mall in Dadar. Here, Prince gifted her clothes and they watched a Hindi film,” said a police officer.u00a0
The accused then convinced the girl to go to Shirdi with him. They boarded a bus to Shirdi at 10 pm and reached their destination the next morning on December 2, where they checked into a hotel. The next day, they left for Virar and later reached Bandra on December 4.
Meanwhile, the victim’s parents registered a missing complaint. On reaching home, the girl panicked about explaining her disappearance to her parents and, with Prince’s help, fabricated a story about how she had forgotten the address of her home as she was mentally unwell, and how Prince found her in Bandra.
However, the matter was brought to the attention of the police. The duo confessed to everything during interrogation, after which Prince was arrested based on medical tests conducted on the girl and the missing report that was filed by the girl’s parents. The accused was produced in court on Saturday and remanded to police custody.
