As there are no Covid-19 curbs, Ambedkarites are expected to gather in large numbers at Shivaji Park for Mahaparinirvan Diwas, to observe his death anniversary

With the city opening up on all counts, this year the regular rituals and arrangements for Mahaparinirvan Diwas will be held just like pre-Covid times. This day is observed on the death anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on December 6. A sea of Ambedkar followers are expected to descend at Dadar to pay tribute to him, as there are no restrictions owing to Covid-19.

This year, the central government will also be a participant, as it has decided to link the event with its initiative Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be interacting with Ambedkar's followers at Dadar’s Shivaji Park through audio-visual medium. Mahaparinirvan Diwas and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will be held in four places in the state Nagpur, Pune, Ratnagiri and Mumbai.
