The death toll due to the COVID-19 pandemic crossed the 50,000 mark on Saturday. There are total 50,027 deaths across the state out of which 19,235, which is around 40 per cent, are from the MMR region, and 11,388 from the Pune circle. The state recorded 3,500 new patients and 57 deaths on Saturday. Mumbai registered close to 600 cases and eight deaths due to COVID-19. 


Mumbai’s total death toll is over 11,000. The number of deaths has fallen drastically since the beginning of December. The city registered around 450 deaths in the last 40 days, and reported 595 fresh cases and nine deaths on Saturday. 


Out of nine deaths, seven had comorbidities and one death was of an individual between 40 to 60 years of age, and eight deaths were in the age group of above 60 years. Almost 834 patients have recovered and been discharged. The recovery rate has stabilised at 93 per cent and active patients are 7,678. The state recorded 50,000 deaths. The number of deaths declined from the last two months.


Out of 50,000, 47,246 deaths were registered till November 30. In the last 40 days, 2,781 deaths have taken place in the state. Mumbai, MMR and Pune reported 60 per cent of overall deaths. Meanwhile, 2,401 patients recovered and there are 53,000 active patients in the state. The state recorded 3,581 COVID-19 patients on Saturday, out of which 1,144 reported in MMR, including Mumbai. A hundred and fifty cases and five deaths were recorded in the Thane Municipal Corporation.
