After recording the lowest daily Covid-19 numbers in the second wave on Monday, Mumbai saw a rise in Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day on Wednesday but managed to stay below the 1,000 mark. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 925 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the city. A significant rise in Covid-19 fatalities was also recorded at 31.

The city reported the highest number of cases, 11,163, on April 4 and then a declining trend started. There has been a steady fall in the TPR after May 5 when it was 10.96 per cent.
May 20 was the first time in the second wave that the TPR went below 5 per cent.

On May 18, the city for the first time in the second wave registered new cases below 1,000.
The doubling rate has continued to improve and is now at 477 days. Of the 31 deaths in Mumbai, 23 patients had comorbidities. 18 patients were in the age group of 60 and above, while 12 deaths were reported in 40-60 age group.
The city’s recovery rate improved to 95 per cent on Wednesday and there were 1,632 people discharged.
Maharashtra saw a marginal rise in new cases on Wednesday. As per the state report, 15,169 new cases were reported. However, the state saw a steep fall in Covid-19 fatalities at 285.
The state’s fatality rate has been seeing a steady rise and on Wednesday it was 1.67 per cent. Meanwhile, 29,279 people recovered and got discharged across the state, which currently has 2.16 lakh active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) reported a marginal rise in new cases at 2,616, including the ones in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Palghar with 245 and Raigad with 552 reported the maximum new cases in MMR. Thane had 154 new cases while Kalyan-Dombivili reported 135 and Navi Mumbai reported 87. MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered a steep fall in deaths at 19. Ulhasnagar, Vasai-Virar reported three deaths each and Raigad saw four deaths.
