Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and Mumbai Bank Chairman Praveen Darekar was trapped in a lift for about 20 minutes on Sunday in Vasai area of Palghar district in Maharashtra, officials said.

The incident took place while he was on his way to attend a self-redevelopment awareness event.

The event was held at Kaul Heritage City, where Darekar was invited as the chief guest. Local police personnel and a rescue team quickly arrived at the scene and helped bring him and the others out safely, they said.
