The National Award for ‘Water Purity’, which is given annually by the renowned Indian Water Works Association of India, specially to local self-governing bodies for improving the quality of water through technology, efficient administration and high quality management in the field of water supply, was awarded to the BMC.

Due to various measures taken up by the Department of Hydraulic Engineers in the last five years, the quality and purity of water has increased to 99.34 per cent in the year 2019-20. There were 47 parameters through which the water testing was done and it has passed through all the standards.
