According to the police officials, on Saturday, when a man was passing by the Malad Traffic Division Police chowki, he saw a man lying on the car's back seat. He immediately informed the nearby traffic police and they informed Malad police.
“The locals told us that the deceased used to work as a labourer in the area, but we are yet to ascertain his identity. His photos have been sent to all local police stations,” senior inspector D. Ligade said.
“The body is not decomposed and does not have any injury marks on it. We suspect that during heavy rains in the past few days, the man might have entered the car to save himself and died inside the vehicle,” he added.
An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered in this matter and the body has been sent to Sidharth Hospital for autopsy and further investigation is underway, Ligade said.
Ligade also said that the car owner did not visit the traffic division after his car was seized. “We asked for car-related documents a month ago. The owner did not turn up to submit the same," Ligade said.
