The Sanctuary Wildlife Awards honour India’s heroes who dedicate their lives to the protection of the biosphere. This year, among the winners are Dr Ravikant Khobragade and Prajakta Hushangabadkar from Maharashtra. The veterinary officer and wildlife biologist, respectively, work at Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. “From bringing rescues home in his childhood, to risking his life to protect the lives of both wild animals and people, he is imb-ued with a deep desire to prevent traumatic human-animal interact-ions,” the foundation noted about Khobragade, adding that Hushanga-badkar’s “knowledge of hardcore conservation issues, a result of years of study and close observation of animals in the wild, have enabled her to bring rational science and social realities to the notice of policy makers.” We wish them the best.
