A fire broke out at a scrap godown in Mumbai's Kurla area in the early hours of Thursday, according to Mumbai Fire Brigade, reported news agency ANI.


A total of 10 fire tenders have arrived on the spot to douse the fire, reported ANI.


The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, reported ANI.

Earlier, Fire engulfed the 13th floor of a 15-storey residential building in Hindu Colony, at Dadar (East) on September 23 morning killing one person. The incident was reported at 0837 hours by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Municipal Fire Brigade (MFB).

The fire, which broke out on the 13th floor of the 15-story residential complex, “Raintree Building”, led to the death of one person who suffered suffocation due to the smoke.

At 0921 hours, BMC's MFB reported that a person had suffocated due to the thick smoke and was rushed to Sion Hospital. Doctors at LTMG Sion Hospital confirmed the death. Sachin Patkar, a 60-year-old male, succumbed to smoke inhalation and was declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, Three members of a family suffered injuries after a suspected 'mobile blast' caused a fire in a house in Maharashtra's Nashik city on Wednesday, an official said, reported the PTI.

According to the PTI, the police suspect a mobile phone exploded while being charged, resulting in the fire at the house in Tulja Niwas in Uttamnagar, CIDCO area of Nashik in Maharashtra, around 6 am.

A few glass panes of nearby houses were also damaged, he said.

Three occupants of the house, identified as Tushar Jagtap, Shobha Jagtap and Balkrishna Sutar, suffered injuries, the official said, adding that the exact details of the blast are yet to be determined, as per the PTI.

In an another incident, a fire broke out at Heera Panna Mall near Oshiwara police station in Jogeshwari last week, the civic officials had said on September 22.

The incident took place around 15.10 pm on Friday. The incident was reported by BMC's Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB). As per the details, MFB declared it to be a level 3 fire at 15.38 pm. The entire building has been evacuated," informed the BMC official.

Agencies mobilized included MFB, Police, 108 ambulances, and BMC ward staff.

"Four people were rescued and admitted to Kokilaben hospital due to suffocation. Two of them were admitted in ICU and other two were treated and discharged," added the BMC official.
