Weather bureau IMD said that cloudy skies will continue to stay for the next 24 hours

On Thursday, parts of Mumbai and nearby areas including Navi Mumbai and Thane witnessed rain accompanied by thunderstorm.

Downpour in the western suburbs areas such as Bandra, Dahisar, Malad, Kandivli, and Andheri caught the citizens by surprise. Vashi, Kamothe and parts of Navi Mumbai also witnessed rains accompanied with strong winds.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, "Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, rain and gusty winds likely to occur at isolated places in Mumbai during next 3 hours (issued at 8:25 pm)."

The weather agency also said that cloudy skies will continue to stay for next 24 hours. Due to the unexpected showers, train services come to a stand still on the harbour line of the Central Railway. However, services were soon restored.
