BMC confirms 275 new infections; deaths and TPR also increase, but marginally

Fresh cases of COVID-19 in Mumbai climbed significantly to 275 on Wednesday, from 218 registered the previous day. The number of daily fatalities also rose to two from one in 24 hours. The test positivity rate (TPR) increased as well, but slightly, to 0.69 per cent from 0.68 per cent, showed the BMC report.

As per the BMC report, both the newly confirmed deceased patients were senior citizens and had comorbidities. The doubling rate improved marginally to 2,098 days on Wednesday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent, with 256 more patients being discharged on Wednesday.

The state saw a significant rise in new cases, and a marginal dip in fatalities. According to the state health department report, 1,003 cases and 32 deaths were recorded in 24 hours, from 886 and 34, respectively.
The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent, and a total of 1,052 patients were discharged on Wednesday. Currently, the state has 11,766 active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a significant rise in new cases, with health officials adding 461 cases on Wednesday, including the ones reported in Mumbai.
The Thane Municipal Corporation reported 37 cases, Thane and Navi Mumbai 26 each, Kalyan-Dombivli 24, and Panvel 17. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered two deaths—one each from Navi Mumbai and Raigad.
