Poll authorities in Maharashtra on Monday released a schedule for a lottery for reservation of wards for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, an official said.

As per the State Election Commission's notification, a lottery will be drawn for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and general category seats for women on May 31.

Prior to this, the BMC will issue notices in local newspapers, on websites and on notice boards on May 27, he said.

"According to the notification, after the ward reservation lottery on May 31, the BMC will publish a draft ward reservation list on June 1, and citizens will be given time between June 1 to 6 for submission of suggestions, objections pertaining to ward reservation," he added.

The final ward reservation list will be published in the gazette on June 13.

The lottery for OBC reservation will not be held as the issue is pending in the Supreme Court, the SEC notification clarified.
