Heavy downpour on Saturday resulted in many city areas waterlogged and flooded. Waterlogging has been reported at many areas like Gandhi Market, which is a chronic affected spot, Antop Hill area, Everard Nagar near Chunabhatti, Hans Mogra Junction near Andheri, and inside the tunnels from Mankhurd T Junction to Maharashtra Nagar.
The Indian Meteorological Department’s Regional Meteorological Centre Mumbai had issued an orange alert initially, which changed to a red alert for Saturday and an orange alert for Monday. IMD Mumbai Director Shubhangi Bhute in a statement said, “In the coming 24 hours Konkan region is expected to experience heavy to really heavy rainfall, and Raigad, Thane, Nashik Ghat area, and Mumbai region are already on red alert.”
