Murder accused writes to CBI saying the victim, her daughter, was recently spotted in Kashmir
Indrani Mukerjea is currently in Byculla jail
Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, has written to the Central Bureau of Investigation saying her daughter is alive and currently in Kashmir. Indrani, 49, has said that one of her fellow inmates at Byculla jail had seen Sheena. Sources from the central agency said there is enough evidence to support the murder charges against Indrani.

In 2015, the media executive was arrested on the charge of killing her daughter in 2012 after the case was detected by then Mumbai police chief Rakesh Maria. On her seemingly bizarre claim, Indrani’s lawyer Sana Khan confirmed that her client had written to the CBI. “But we don’t have the details of the letter,” Khan told the press outside the sessions court on Thursday. She didn’t reveal the whole content of the letter written to CBI Director Subodh Jaiswal.
Indrani Mukerjea, Sheena Bora’s mother
Mukherjea has been behind bars since 2015 in the Byculla jail. While Sheena was her daughter from her first marriage, Indrani introduced her to outsiders as her sister for many years. She later married former media baron Peter Indrani. Peter had also been arrested by the CBI in the case though he secured bail last year. Sources in the CBI said Indrani’s letter is not being taken seriously as there is concrete evidence that Sheena was murdered by her mother with the help of her driver Shyamvar Rai and her second husband Sanjeev Khanna. Rai later turned approver in the case.
