Thane: Slab of first floor of building collapses in Kalwa, 3 injured

Three people were injured after a slab of the first floor of a building collapsed on Monday morning, the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) said. 


According to the RDMC, the disaster management cell received the information of the incident at around 10:30 am. As per the information, the slab of Vikrant/43 building located near Taran Lake in Manisha Nagar, Kalwa, Thane (west) collapsed. The building is a ground plus three storey structure and is around 38 years old. The slab collapsed on a salon below the room on the first floor. 


Following the information, officials from the fire brigade, disaster management cell, Kalwa Police, along with emergency vehicles and rescue vehicles rushed to the spot for rescue operations, the RDMC said.

"There are six shops and two rooms on the ground floor. The first floor of the building has six rooms," an official said. 

Those injured in the incident have been identified as Ayush Janu Dhamane, 20, he has sustained severe head and arm injuries, Qadir Salmani, 19, salon worker, she has received minor injuries on her hand and Partha Nilesh Patekar, 16, a boy who come to the salon for a haircut, sustained injuries on his eye and back. All the above injured were rushed to the Pramila Hospital in Manisha Nagar and are undergoing treatment, the RDMC said. 

As a precautionary measure all the six shops on the ground floorof thebuilding and the rooms have been vacated, the RDMC added.
