A 30-year-old Nigerian national was beaten up by his neighbours in Bindapur area of southwest Delhi late on Monday night, accusing him of cannibalism.
The local claimed that the Nigerian, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, had eaten two children of the area.
The police took him to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay with severe injuries in several parts of the body.
A police officer said the Nigerian national was unconscious and they were not able to take his statement. "We don't know what exactly happened. The locals have told us that he picked up a fight with two youths in the area. The duo had accused the Nigerian of eating two children. He is well-built man and the two youths were also injured in the scuffle," a police officer told MiD DAY.
The officer said the two local youths have been identified as Ankit, 19, and Manoj, 20, both residents of Mohan Garden.
The police refused to say anything about the allegations of cannibalism.
"We are looking into the matter. So far no case has been registered," the officer said.
