The teasers for Parichay Zindagi Ke Sapnon Ka, produced by Ekta Kapoor, have Sameer Soni ruminating over the state of the world. The actor, who plays a middle class Punjabi, tells Sunday Mid day why it's time TV moved beyond kitchen politics of overdressed bahus

The promos for Parichay Zindagi Ke Sapnon Ka look different.
I think it's a show that will bring about a revolution. I cannot recall any TV show that was male-centric.

What do you think of the calendar-format of the show's promos?
Everyday, we air a new, innovative promo. No other show has done this before -- have a daily, fresh promo. The reaction I have received so far has been nothing short of fantastic.

How similar is Sameer Soni to Kunal Chopra (protagonist of the show)?
I feel I share a personal relationship with the character in some way. There are a lots of layers to this man.

After having spent so many years in the TV industry, it is only now that Ekta Kapoor and you are working together.
I have known Ekta for a long time. But finally, I have the dates and she has a role that excites me. It's great to work with her. This is her brainchild. So, hats off to her for coming up with a concept like Parichay.

It appears different from what Balaji usually produces.
Ekta always finds something different to produce. She is the one who started the television revolution with saas-bahu serials. Another of her current show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain has her exploring love between an older couple.

Your luck seems to be turning after your marriage with Neelam.
She is a special part of my life. I have always believed that marriage acts as a turning point. I am not a very social person, so for me to have a life partner like Neelam is great. It's also good to have someone from the same profession, someone who understands the pressures and knows what it means to be an actor.

How do you spend time when you are not shooting?
I am boring. I spend most of it with my wife, and watching movies. Sometimes, we go for long drives or meet friends for dinner. We are a very quiet couple. We also have our share of fights like most others do.

What does your immediate future look like?
I have just finished shooting for a film with John (Abraham) and Chitrangada (Singh). Now, with this show, I don't have time because a daily soap takes at least 25 days of your month. I am not complaining because films take a long time to make and the results are evident only after the release. In television, it's instant. Once the show is on air, you receive spontaneous feedback.u00a0
